In the B2B manufacturing industry, recommending the right equipment requires precision and rapid response times. Wanner Engineering, a leader in manufacturing industrial pumps, faced a challenge common to complex technical sectors: its distribution channel needed a faster, more reliable way to answer prospective customer questions and identify the best pump for specific applications.
Relying on traditional paper manuals, complex Excel workbooks or tedious trial and error slowed down the sales cycle and created friction for distributors working directly in the field. To maintain its competitive edge, Wanner needed a responsive, mobile-first solution that could translate complex engineering data into instant, client-ready recommendations.
The Strategy
As experts in marketing and digital strategy for the B2B manufacturing sector, Neuger recognized that empowering the distribution channel required putting precise technical data directly into sales representatives’ hands. We worked with Wanner’s engineering team to translate the logic and equations used to select a pump into an app. Based on the logic, we created an easy-to-use user interface that hides the complexity and developed the back-end logic. We then designed and developed the Wanner Pump Sizing App, a robust mobile application for iOS and Android.
To meet the rigorous demands of industrial environments, Neuger built the application with full offline access. It relies on an API that securely syncs data whenever an internet connection becomes available. The app allows distributors to enter real-world operating conditions – including duty flow, maximum flow, inlet pressure and discharge pressure – right from the field. It also utilizes advanced filtering for fluid details like temperature, viscosity and particle size to ensure proper material selection and system reliability. Upon calculation, the app instantly identifies the ideal pump models and allows the distributor to save and share the results as a clean, professional PDF. In some markets, it also picks an appropriately sized motor for the pumping application.
The Results
The Wanner Pump Sizing App is streamlining how the distribution channel interacts with prospective buyers. Distributors can now quickly and accurately size a pump using real operating data. By turning a complex engineering process into a seamless mobile experience, the project reinforced Wanner’s position as a highly responsive industry innovator and demonstrated Neuger’s unique ability to deliver tailored digital solutions for complex B2B manufacturing clients.
